The Department of Migrant Workers has launched the inaugural OFW Global Summit, bringing together stakeholders from across the world to strengthen support systems for overseas Filipino workers. The summit aims to establish stronger bilateral labour agreements and improve access to welfare services for OFWs worldwide.
The DMW has officially kicked off Filipino Migrants Month for June 2026, with a series of events scheduled worldwide to honour the contributions of overseas Filipino workers. Philippine embassies and consulates across Europe will be hosting community events throughout the month.
A total of 55 overseas Filipino workers arrived safely in the Philippines from Dubai, assisted by the DMW's repatriation programme. The workers were provided with transportation, temporary shelter, and reintegration support upon arrival.
The DMW held its Labour Day job fair featuring 3,400 overseas positions across engineering, construction, hospitality, manufacturing, healthcare, and seafaring. 12 licensed recruitment agencies participated, with several job openings in European countries including Germany.
The DMW protected aspiring OFWs from illegal recruitment schemes by a suspended agency targeting Central European destinations. Workers were advised to verify agency licenses and report suspicious offers through official DMW channels. Always check an agency's DMW accreditation before accepting any job offer.
The DMW announced it is actively expanding opportunities for Filipino healthcare workers in Europe. With several European countries facing nursing shortages, the DMW is working on bilateral agreements to facilitate the deployment of qualified Filipino nurses and caregivers to EU member states.
